Catholic Education Week

Peace be with you.

God of peace, Create in us a peace-filled heart.

Help us find quiet times to be still and reflect on your presence with us.

Assist us to act with love, forgiveness and compassion, so we can live peacefully with others.

Guide us in showing respect and care for all of creation.

In all our thoughts, words and actions, help us be peacemakers in creating the world you desire.

We ask this in the name of the light of Christ, Spirit of Peace. Amen

World Environment Day, June 5th

As we celebrate World Environment Day on June 5th, let us all consider how we can walk on this planet more in harmony with all creation and in step with our Indigenous brothers and sisters. In particular, we are mindful of small, regional and remote communities who bear the brunt of ecological impacts from escalating climate change and significant issues such as proposed radioactive waste dumps. Nature is not something separate from ourselves. Our throwaway culture produces much highly toxic, non-biodegradable and radioactive waste. We are called to change our lifestyles, to combat global warming and preserve biodiversity, clean water and healthy ecosystems. An integral ecology – like the climate – is a common good, belonging to all and meant for all. So please be conscious of the enormous privilege and responsibility of our generation. The decisions we make today, either privately or on a larger scale, will affect the future of all generations to come. “. to become painfully aware, to dare to turn what is happening to the world into our own personal suffering and thus discover what each of us can do about it.” Pope Francis, Laudato Si, 19
