NEWS FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Families

Welcome to our Federal Election newsletter! It is our aim to make sure you have the information that relates to Catholic Education. We provide this information in the hope that you will be fully informed on the issues relating to Catholic Education.

Catholic Education’s key election objectives

Catholic schools are a vital part of Australia’s education landscape; from humble beginnings almost 200 years ago, Catholic Education is now the nation’s largest provider of education outside the government.

The key national issues for Catholic Education at the upcoming federal election are:

  • increased capital funding
  • more resources for early childhood education
  • religious freedom in schools

To find out more, you can find each of the three Election updates, from the National Catholic Education Commission, as part of this newsletter.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT MEETING

Dear Families,

Every three years Catholic Schools are required to develop a Strategic Plan. All stakeholders in the process (parents, students and staff) are given an opportunity to shape our new framework and future directions. Come and join members of the School Board and Parents and Friends at this meeting. This opportunity will be held on Tuesday May 21st 7:00-8:30pm in the Hall (wine and cheese tasting is included).  We will be facilitating a process to gather feedback about Rosary School and to plan for the development of our school over the next three years. What do you like about our school? In what are areas would you like to see Rosary school develop further?

CHILDREN'S LITURGY

Our Lady of The Rosary Church would like to be able to have a Children’s Liturgy at each Sunday 10am Mass. We would love to hear from families who would like to take part. We would also like to hear from high school students and adults, especially parents, who would be willing to be Liturgy Leaders. Please email, office@napparish.org.au if you are interested and we will arrange a time to do some planning.

ITALIAN LANGUAGE AND CULTURE DAY

What a colourful day it was with children and staff dressing up in the Italian flag colours of verde, bianco e rosso.

Rosary school had an informative assembly with some year 5 students singing the Italian National Anthem and year 6 students talking about their research on different foods of Italy.

We were entertained by the Year 2 children singing, Il Coccodrillo Come Fa? and Cosa ti piace?

The children were then able to enjoy a great production from Make a Scene - Fooling in Love, followed by enjoying some delicious gelato.
