  1. DEVELOPING OUR SCHOOL STRATEGIC PLAN (step 1 – information gathering)
  2. DEVELOPING A MASTER PLAN FOR OUR SCHOOL (for the planning of new or changed buildings and facilities)

The Community Involvement Meeting is just the start of the process! In our coming newsletters we will be sharing the information gathered.  You will have an opportunity to continue or contribute to the discussions via surveys release in the newsletter over the term.

NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK

Grounded in Truth, Walk Together with Courage
Beginning next Sunday, 26 May, National Sorry Day, through to 3 June.
This year’s theme for National Reconciliation Week is: Grounded in Truth, Walk Together with Courage.
Have you ever wondered why these dates?  What is the significance?
National Reconciliation Week occurs from 27 May to 3 June each year, as these two dates mark important anniversaries in Australia’s history. On 27 May 1967, Australians passed a referendum that removed clauses from the Australian Constitution which discriminated against Indigenous Australians. On 3 June 1992, the High Court agreed with the position put in the Mabo case, that Australia had been occupied prior to European settlement, and as such, certain rights to native title were preserved by the Indigenous population. These two historic steps forwarded the recognition of Indigenous Australians and their rights, as they both reversed previously held beliefs.

This week is a time for all Australians to renew their commitment to reconciliation and to actively work against the injustice, prejudice and exclusion that plagues our common journey. As Australians, we are all here, woven into this country. So as part of the reconciliation journey, there are truths to tell, stories to celebrate, and relationships to grow so that reconciliation can be at the heart of our nations’ future.

At Rosary School, we are using a focus of the AFL’s Indigenous round to explore the designs, the meaning and then have the opportunity to create our own Guernsey’s that reflect: Grounded in Truth, Walk Together with Courage.  The design will focus on exploration and creation of a ‘dreaming story’ using tradition indigenous symbols.

FAREWELL MRS MARAFIOTI

Today I would like to share with you the news that Rose Marafioti has announced her retirement from Rosary School. Rose has been working as one of our Co-bursars for many years. Rose has been on Long-Service-Leave this year. Over 33 years Rose has worked at Rosary School in a number of roles. She first came to the school in the days that the School Secretary did the jobs that it takes four people to do today! Rose commented that you just learnt all the jobs as part of what you did each day. Rose is planning to spend more time travelling round to see her family and doing a range of volunteer work in the community in her retirement. On behalf of the school I would like to offer my thanks to Rose for her tremendous commitment to Rosary School over such a long time period. Damian Weeks

The three qualified for the day after winning at the District Championships, placing them in the top 15 in Adelaide. Be very proud of your effort and sportsmanship. Giuliano's effort in the Long Jump saw him finish in 4th place, 1cm off a bronze medal. A terrific performance!
