Week 10 Term 1 2021
Dear Rosary Community
This week in the Catholic church we celebrate Holy Week. A week that begins with Jesus being welcomed into Jerusalem as a king and then concludes with his crucifixion. During Holy Week different classes have held special services to help them reflect on the events leading up to the death and resurrection of Jesus. These have been prayerful experiences that support children’s understanding of the significance of the death and resurrection of Jesus for Christians. Next week we will celebrate Jesus’ resurrection with a whole school Mass. We invite parents and caregivers to celebrate with us on Tuesday at 11.30 am in the school gym.
Thank you to the Parents and Friends for organising the community event last Friday evening and I wish to apologise for my absence. I simply didn’t check my diary and realised late on Saturday that I had missed the event. I will put alerts in my phone in future!
I understand that it was a wonderful evening and am disappointed I didn’t make it.
I wish everyone a happy and safe Easter break, and as this is my last newsletter for the term, I would also like to wish everyone a restful Term 1 holiday break.
I have been overwhelmed by the wonderful community here at Rosary and feel privileged to be your Principal. Thank you to all the students, staff and parents for your welcome and support in my first term here.
This week I received a letter from Mrs Nadine Evans resigning from her position as Finance Officer. I would like to thank Nadine for her outstanding work at Rosary School and wish her all the best in the future. Nadine’s last day with us will be Thursday, 8th April, 2021.
Happy Easter

This year, 6SC & 6MB went on camp at Walker Flat Ankara camp. It was lots of fun and we did many activities such as kayaking, raft building, water testing, we also caught tiny water bugs from the river. Year 6 camp was so fun because it was water camp and we got very wet! We also got the chance to talk to friends and have a good time together.
This week in 6SC we did silhouette art which included shadow silhouette and outline silhouette, this was based on the story of the Ten Suns. It was fun to try and recreate our favourite part of the story, but it was hard because we needed to use paint which made it difficult to paint all the thin lines and detail on the art piece. We had to be focused and gentle to make sure the paint didn’t smudge.

I am here today to shave my hair and to explain why I am doing this.
To be honest I thought there was nothing to be scared about but now that I am up here it is pretty nerve racking and very scary.
When I heard Annette had cancer, I felt faint and could not breath. I did not want to hear anymore because I knew it was not as easy as getting rid of a cold.
I decided that I wanted to shave my head because I wanted Annette to know she was not alone and that we loved her.
Mum said if I was going to shave my head that maybe I could make a difference by raising some money for Annette and Jonnie to pay for some bills. When I asked how, mum said maybe a Go Fund Me Page. This made me feel much better because I could help in some way.
I kept asking mum when was she going to set the Go Fund Me Page and some days I even cried. Finally, after two months mum set up the go fund me page.
On our first day we raised $6000 and I was so excited because I did not think it possible to raise that much money. After two weeks we raised $20,000.
The last few months have been hard for Annette and her family because she has had so many appointments, treatments and surgeries.
So, this brings me here today…
Me shaving my hair for everyone to see…
So let’s do it !!!
“Rosary Parents & Friends @ The Cali” was held last Friday night. As of next Friday, April 9th (week 11), ice block sales will only be sold via the Qkr! App, no cash sales will be accepted. Please ensure you have downloaded the app as the P&F are moving to use this app exclusively for all sales and tickets.
SAVE THE DATE: The P&F will be holding their annual Mother’s Day Celebrations. The gift stall will be held on Thursday May 6th. All gifts will be $5, and vouchers to shop at the stall will be sold via the Qkr! app. The P&F will also be hosting a Mother’s Day Morning Tea on Friday May 7th. Have a safe and happy Easter break and we look forward to sharing more exciting P&F events in Term 2.
Last Wednesday evening, 26 of our year 3 students and 1 year 4 student celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the very first time. It was a joyful culmination of our ‘family centred, parish based, school supported’ Sacramental Program.
Congratulations to all students and many thanks to their families and teachers in preparing the children.
EASTER PRAYER
Draw us forth, God of all creation.
Draw us forward and away from limited certainty into the immense world of your love.
Give us the capacity to even for a moment taste the richness of the feast you give us.
Give us the peace to live with uncertainty, with questions, with doubts.
Help us to experience the resurrection anew with open wonder and an increasing ability to see you in the people of Easter.
Amen.
Rosary Catholic School will be offering soccer coaching clinics for our soccer players during Term 2. This will provide our students with further opportunities to improve their skills and enjoy their chosen sport.

We have noticed a resurgence in the Pokémon fad. Here at Rosary School, we would like to nurture the many benefits of the game and to assist children in learning the many skills associated with it.
We have therefore decided to set up a lunchtime Pokémon Club in the Hall. Children can bring their cards along that day and play the game.
The club will be held each Thursday.
On other days, children and families are asked not to bring the cards along to school.
Benefits:
- learning to follow instructions/rules of the game skills.
- social / collaboration skills
- sportsmanship skills
- problem solving skills
- adaptability skills
- critical and analytical thinking skills
- independent or quiet time play skills
- reading skills
