P & F Committee 2020 Wrap Up

Wednesday 2nd December, 2020

This year the P&F Committee has demonstrated a strong will, commitment and dedication to all parents and friends of Rosary by upholding the values of our school and community, continually improving the culture, driving change and delivering initiatives through active engagement. But most importantly paving the way forward to bring together parents, families, friends, students, teachers alike.

From “A Heart that sees” perspective it is fair to say we have all seen so much this year, these unprecedented times have brought much uncertainty, angst, anxiousness, challenges and change. However, through it all we have all adapted and conformed to the restrictions placed upon us; a true test of character, strength and courage but most importantly a sign of just how resilient we all can be. COVID-19 School update

Thursday 19th November, 2020

Dear Parents

We have all had to grapple with the news of the state-wide lockdown and I pray that you and your family are safe and well.

I want to thank all of our students and school families for the way you transitioned from school to home yesterday.

South Australia’s six-day state-wide lockdown will continue until midnight Tuesday 24 November. As the Premier has stated, at this point we do not know what restrictions will look like beyond that date.

At this time, your child’s wellbeing is our priority. Our teachers and school leaders are here to support you and your child.

As previously advised today and tomorrow – 19 and 20 November 2020 – the school will be closed except for care of the children of essential workers.

Monday 23 November and Tuesday 24 November, the school will remain closed and we will provide online learning. We will keep you informed if there are any government changes that impact on how our school operates next week.

The continuity of learning for all of our students is of the utmost importance. Children and young people are used to the structure of school and it is important that they have as much routine and certainty as possible in their day. Therefore, we will look to providing an online environment that replicates as best a possible their normal school day. Please note though, that there will be differences in routine for children and young people at various year levels. All students, irrespective of age, need to have regular breaks from a screen and from being seated for long periods of time.

While staff and students may be undertaking work out of working hours, online interaction will only occur during the usual parameters of our school operating hours. You can learn more about developing an online routine at the learning online website.

Please note the following:

· If you are an essential worker and are intending to take your child to school, please complete the form which can be found on SchoolStream under FORMS.

· From Monday 23 November students will resume formal learning through the school’s online platform, including MS Teams, MS OneNote and Seesaw. Further information will be forwarded by your child’s teacher regarding this. For online learning protocols, please see: Family Remote Learning Safety Protocols

· Those children and young people of essential workers attending school will also be undertaking online learning, supported and supervised by school staff. Teachers are not expected to provide different learning experiences for students who physically attend school.

I understand that this may be a difficult time for you and your family, and I wish to reassure you that the teachers of the school will do their utmost to support your child as we navigate the next weeks.

You can contact your child’s teacher(s) via email.

If you have a general enquiry you can also phone the school. Catholic Education SA is also providing regular updates at www.cesa.catholic.edu.au/news/alerts.

Regards

Trish O’Toole

Role Model Talks

Wednesday 18th November, 2020

We were very fortunate to have 4 former Rosary School students return to share their stories and thoughts on learning and achieving goals in sport. They are all very successful in their own right. More impressive, however, is the humility and gratitude they have shown over the years and continue to model. We are very proud of their achievements and the young people they have grown to be.

Letter to Parents Lockdown

Wednesday 18th November, 2020

18th November,

2020 Dear Parents,

As you are aware the Premier has announced a statewide lockdown in South Australia for the next 6 days.

For the next two days – 19 and 20 November 2020 – the school will be closed except for care of the children of essential workers

These are school closure days and, as such, no online learning will be provided.

We will have a small number of staff on site to provide supervised care to any family who requires this essential service.

If your child will be present on either of these days please bring them to the front office so that we can register their attendance.

Students have been asked to bring home all the materials and equipment that will assist them with their learning.

The school will remain closed in the week commencing 23 November except for the care of children of essential workers. Information about our approach to online learning next week will be communicated to you tomorrow.

Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time.

We will continue to keep you updated. Yours Sincerely Trish O’Toole Principal
